The VUs read both input and output levels as per switch, which is nice and are easy to visualize as are the LEDs. I have heard these units can sound reasonably good if you swap the tubes on them – but if I bought it again, I would have got the MPA2 without the digital. Even when you get the digital working, IMO the converters on the thing sound worse than analog in to an audio interface. They arent bad amps but if you only need one channel id get the ART Voice channel preamp.

It’s no Avalon AD2022, but if you have the money for the AD2022, you wouldn’t be buying this. I have a couple of these that I have been using live on horns. They sound good and they have a couple of features that I really like. Being able to vary the impedance is handy for getting the right sound out of horn mics. The variable low cut filter is also very nice. The metering is more detailed and visible than most preamps, and the lights are bright enough to see easily on a dark stage.
